On January 7, the Siveco China team gathered at the Shanghai office to celebrate the Epiphany. The festival, celebrating the visit of the Three Kings to baby Jesus, twelve days after Christmas, is very popular in France. Our team shared the “galette des rois” (kings’ cake), which contains a small figurine: whoever finds it would be the king for the day.

The holiday season has come again and this is the 15th Christmas for Siveco China! We started a young team, now the Siveco kids have grown up… The entire team and various Siveco mascots join me to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May you spend time with your family and may your New Year’s wishes come true!

On June 12, in Shanghai, the “Industry of the Future” working group of Chamber of Commerce and Industry France-China (CCIFC) held a session on “Smart Glasses solutions for industrial asset management”.Around 30 executives from member companies joined the seminar. The main speaker was Li Wenjiang, International Business Head at Beijing LLVISION Technology.

The use of “smart” BIM for O&M meets practical “dumb” challenges, especially in the Chinese market where maintenance practices are not well established. Useful lessons can however be learnt from experience and standards used in the industry. A project role must be created for O&M data preparation, first to define specifications, formats, schedules before major equipment contracts are signed, then to follow up data preparation activities during construction. As far as software is concerned, a practical advice is to avoid conflicts with project teams and software vendors: instead, an O&M layer added onto the BIM model can provide the necessary support. After a quiet summer, September proved to be full of action for the Siveco team. We attended three major utilities events to share our experience implementing Smart O&M solutions in Chinese infrastructure projects. Around each of the events, we also arranged specific meetings with local clients.

The current environmental protection industry presents such characteristics as: massive investments, rapid construction, difficult commissioning and lack of skilled personnel. The industry as a whole looks flourishing. Environmentalists’ social media posts of are full of signing ceremonies for all sorts of new contracts, public-private cooperation gatherings and handsome poses traveling around the world.
