Long-time participants in the industrial maintenance market know that predictive maintenance has been a hot topic since at least the 1980s. In recent years, a variety of new players has claimed to revolutionize predictive maintenance using IoT and AI. As a result, the subject of maintenance, previously considered tedious, complex and… unprofitable as a business, has become hot!

As COVID-19 hit the world just before Chinese New Year in January, Siveco China support services continued through the holidays to help ensure our customer’s normal operation. Our support engineers contacted every customer, enquiring as to their situation and providing technical help as needed. Particular attention was paid to clients managing essential infrastructures and to Key Accounts. In order to protect the health and safety of all involved, the support team decided to hold the next “Open Class” in the form of a webinar.

For two months already in China we have battled the coronavirus. Or rather, workers at the forefront have battled the virus, while we have only played our role as good citizens. As the crisis has continued to spread, our friends all over the world now face the same challenges and suffering, striving to overcome it together.

The new maintenance model developed by Leonardo at its Cisterna di Latina site (near Rome, Italy), in partnership with its supplier Siveco, led to a breakthrough in efficiency, reducing downtime and improving sustainability at the site. We discussed the predictive maintenance project, which Leonardo recently developed with Siveco, and looked in-depth at the excellent results generated and how the project is now being rolled out to other Leonardo sites.

In response to growing demand for Maintenance 4.0 solutions in the aerospace industry in Asia, Siveco has joined forces with TB Solutions, a boutique consulting firm serving aerospace clients all over the region. What we currently observe is that the most forward-looking companies will take advantage of this crisis to streamline those expensive 4.0 program in order to derive more practical and short-term benefits.

Today let us share news of our Siveco China people in the COVID-19 crisis! First, everyone is well and safe. When the crisis hit, most of our staff were enjoying their Chinese New Year vacations, most at home, some on travel. On January 26, Siveco launched its emergency action plan named “Safe Business, Safe Office”.
