Strong partnerships for large-scale bluebee® projects

Since bluebee® was first launched in 2010, the size of the projects have grown considerably. Initially implemented in chemical plants for a small number of users (less than 10 in the first Lutianhua project), bluebee® was later deployed on a much larger scale for facility management customers (around 500 in Changcheng Property Group) and even larger projects are now ongoing (1000s of users). This experience has shown the robustness of bluebee® – the only standard mobile field service solution to have been deployed successfully in the Chinese market – and the ability of Siveco to deliver such projects, integrating hardware (mobile devices, barcode printers, metal tags), software (bluebee®), synchronization with the various back-office systems, and consulting services.

Even larger projects?

In super-large projects with users in the 100s or 1000s, customer may legitimately be concerned by Siveco’s size. Indeed, Siveco remains a specialist maintenance firm with a small service team (totally around 40 people) and limited financial capacity.

To complement its own delivery capability, Siveco China is partnering with larger companies, system integrators or hardware vendors with large service and support teams all over China. Those partners have the financial strength, the system integration capability and the credibility required to deliver bluebee® for very large clients.

Motorola is of course a very well-known supplier of mobile telecommunication equipment including a large range of professional mobile devices. Motorola has been partnership with Siveco for several years now, making bluebee® available to its network of service partners. bluebee® is certified to run on Moto mobiles and Siveco has won several awards by Motorola.

Bluebird is a smaller but well-known Korean supplier of industrial-grade mobile devices. Their mobiles have for example been deployed by Shanghai police with over 10,000 users and other large projects. Although the similarity of names is purely coincidental, bluebee® is indeed certified to run on Bluebird devices.

Leading Chinese IT company Digital China can act either as system integrator for large clients or as subcontractor to Siveco, taking care of all hardware and IT integration issues. Digital China, through agreements with multiple hardware vendors including Motorola and Bluebird, has access to a wide range of mobile devices, from high-end industrial mobiles to cheap consumer-grade smartphones.

Alcatel Shanghai Bell is another large-scale company authorized to resell and integrate Siveco solutions, including bluebee®, with a primary focus on the public transportation sector. The partnership can be traced back to successful projects with Singapore MRT (the metro) in the mid-1990s.

More generally, Siveco is also able to act as specialist subcontractor to any large system integrator, providing bluebee® licenses and specific expertise. This model is particularly well suited for infrastructure projects, where the client is used to work with certain consulting firms or has already selected a main contractor for massive IT projects for which the mobile component is missing (while the back-office solution, for example SAP, is already decided). Experience has shown that many mobile projects fail: partnering with Siveco and using our proven software platform may be the right solution.
