Auspicious rain for our company trip to Luoyang!

As our Managing Director said, the rain is auspicious sign of fortune to come… From September 18 to 21, the Siveco China team enjoyed a Mid-Autumn Festival trip to Luoyang, Henan province, under the rain!

On the first day, we originally planned to visit Shaolin Temple, but due to heavy rains and risk of landslides, we changed to visit Guanlin Temple, a place to worship Guan Yu, one of the famous generals of the Three Kingdoms period. After the visit, we took the bus to Lijing Gate, one of the eight top Luoyang sights, a symbols of the ancient city’s history and culture. As the night fell, we watched the illuminated scene and enjoyed snacks.

On the second day, we went to Laojun Mountain. Unfortunately the downpour continued, but our team still climbed the mountain, accompanied by the rain, wind, clouds and fog. Although we did not see much of the beautiful scenery, we got to exercise our willpower during this arduous mountain climbing.

The next day, we had to change our plan again due as Longmen Grottoes were closed due to floods. We drove instead to White Horse Temple, the only international Buddhist temple in the world with temples in the four countries: China, India, Myanmar and Thailand. This visit proved to be a peaceful and eye-opening experience. After lunch, we toured the Luoyang Ruins of Sui and Tang Dynasty, Mingtang and Tiantang Scenic Area, where we learned about Wu Zetian, the only female emperor in Chinese history.

On the last day, we drove to Zhenzhou and visited Henan Museum, an important window to appreciate the culture of the Central Plains, the Yellow River and the Chinese context. As it was Mid-Autumn Festival, some of us attended the Huaxia Ancient Music show. All of us were surprised by the exquisite cultural relics. After the visit, we headed to the airport for our way back home.

Despite or perhaps because of the unexpected weather conditions, this journey will remain in our memories! We are all looking forward a second trip to Luoyang! We also thank all our team members who stayed at the office to ensure customer support (and enjoyed better weather in Shanghai)! The rain was certainly auspicious, as since our return an unusual number of new business opportunities have appeared!
