The bluebee® girls

People are asking me again: why the bluebee® girls? We get a lot of positive feedback, people think it is a good marketing idea, although slightly weird and certainly unexpected from a company dealing with maintenance engineering… Truth is… people expect us to be boring.

But that’s not us! We at Siveco think that maintenance is fun and sexy! This is our message with the bluebee® girls!

Especially in a period of economic slowdown (very relative…), rising labor costs (isn’t it good news?) and increasing regulatory oversight (much needed!), maintenance has a major role to play. This makes our job very interesting, rewarding and fun, too!

I am certainly having a lot of fun running this business, starting the first maintenance consultancy in China from scratch, hiring and training a great team of young people, doing projects all over China, expanding the business into Southeast Asia, developing new innovative ways to improve maintenance! Not to mention writing this kind of editorials for our newsletter! It’s a great job!

Or am I delusional? Surely, business can be tough sometimes… The complexity of our projects, getting people to understand what preventive maintenance really is, never-ending customers’ staff turnover that affects our projects, billion-dollar companies that say they cannot pay us due to their cash flow problems… Perhaps I am just imagining, as in Winnie-the-Pooh, “another part of the forest where a boy and his bear will always be playing”… Except I don’t get a bear to play with, but a pot of honey and the bluebees!

In this month’s issue of our newsletter, in addition to the General Manager’s improbable rambling, you will get a Reliability article “Q&A on optimizing operations in tough economic times” (a follow-up on our participation at the 10th Process Industry Engineering & Maintenance Congress last month) and a Customer story on “Maintenance preparation support for Indonesia’s Banjarsari power plant with CNEEC” (focused on plant data collection for CMMS). The Partner piece features Vantech (condition monitoring) and Bartec (explosion-proof mobiles) who both did a great job with us at the congress. Finally, Tips & Tricks explains how and why bluebee® cloud could be used on a multi- touch screen.

You too have fun!
