Mid-autumn and maintenance budgets

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the September issue of our newsletter, which we decided to send after the Mid-Autumn holidays when everybody goes back to work… I hope you enjoyed a happy Mid-Autumn Festival with your families, fresh and ready for the fourth quarter!

As the end of the year is approaching, we are all busy reaching our objectives and preparing next year’s budgets. Have you talked to us for your 2013 maintenance budget? You should! If you are keen to get your improvement projects approved, you will also be interested in this month’s Reliability article on how to financially justify maintenance projects to top management.

Many of you will also have leftover budgets – money you did not spend as planned, which perhaps could be reallocated and could help prepare for 2013. I daresay we could help you spend it! More seriously, every year we conduct audits, maintenance engineering studies or even small-scale CMMS implementation in November or December, thanks to such leftover budgets. Some of our best success stories have started this way… Nokia, International Paper, Sichuan Lutianhua, etc.

This month’s Customer Story features Fives Cryo, a manufacturer of heat exchangers located in Taicang (Jiangsu province) – the perfect example of how a mid-size plant can greatly benefit from a maintenance improvement project and use a CMMS to structure their maintenance team. Other articles include an overview of partners activities at the latest Process Industry Engineering & Maintenance Congress in Shanghai, a Tips & Tricks article on bluebee® functional components (continuing with the series started a few months ago) and our latest news.
