Partner meetings with Siveco China in Tunisia
Our Managing Director Bruno was in Tunisia the third week of April for business development meetings with our African partners. The trip started with a visit to the scenic town of Sidi Bou Said for a seafood lunch with colleagues Adel Kalai and Claude Tombu, two of the key people behind the company’s development in Africa.
On the way from Tunis to Sidi Bou Said, several Siveco client sites are visible, including power plants operated by the national power company STEG (Societe Tunisienne de l’Electricite et du Gaz). The company operates gas turbine, wind and solar projects managed with Coswin.
During the week, joint sales reviews were held with the various partners. Siveco China presented on the theme of the “New Silk Road”, with a case study of Algerian utility Sonelgaz and the nine ongoing CMMS projects managed by Siveco China with Korean and Turkish EPCs.
A training on the latest Coswin 8i version took place simultaneously in Tunis and Shanghai, conducted by Siveco Tunisia. The latest version features a new Linear Assets Management module and an improved Resource Editor. Already a major feature of Coswin, the new Resource Editor allows for a complete customization of Coswin, including the creation of new modules integrated with existing functionalities, without any software development.
Coswin 8i was also presented to more than 80 clients and prospects of ATMI, Siveco partner in Tunisia.
The thirtieth birthday of Siveco Group was celebrated at a group dinner in presence of group Founder and Chairman Carlo Fichera, and many of Siveco partners from French-speaking African countries.
Bruno’s trip ended with a power sales party with guest of honor Mansour Ba, Siveco partner in Senegal. Two major Siveco references in Senegal are the national electric power company SENELEC and ASECNA (Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar).
Meanwhile in neighboring Algeria, our ongoing CMMS project at the Boufarik gas turbine power plant built by Turkish EPC GAMA is moving into final delivery phase. The plant of national power company Sonelgaz is not far from Algiers (incidentally in the same town where the Orangina drink was invented). Onsite delivery on all Sonelgaz sites is performed with our trusted local partner GROD2.
The Tunis meeting was also the chance to review some of our recent projects in the region:
– Nine ongoing gas turbine power plants (total over 10GW capacity!) built by Korean and Turkish EPC companies in Algeria, all managed by Siveco Shanghai team for CMMS data preparation and installation onsite with our local Algerian partner.
– The Amman Queen Alia International Airport in Jordan, where all the airport infrastructures are managed with Coswin 8i.
– Two dual fuel (diesel and gas) power plants in Lebanon, where Siveco has been supporting three different international operators.
– Two major gas pipeline projects, the Greenstream pipeline from Libya to Italy, and the Trans-Tunisian Gas Pipeline, both operated by Italian joint-ventures.
– Two Tunisian wind farms, our CMMS ensuring know-how transfer from wind turbine maker Gamesa to the owner Tunisian power company STEG.

Various power projects in Africa were also discussed, as we are trying to leverage our strong African presence and the growing activity of Chinese and Korean EPCs in the region. Siveco is in the unique position to be able to support engineering activities in Asia and to deliver onsite in the local language. Siveco’s other unique feature is to combine maintenance engineering and CMMS in the same contract, while our competitors need to involve several suppliers (at least two, often more), creating additional risks for their client. Conversely, we bring unparalleled experience to our Chinese clients operating similar infrastructure projects.
In a related news, our business in Morocco was described in this news article during the recent visit of the King of Morocco to China.
