Our Maintenance in China newsletter is 5 years old!
While preparing for this March issue, it suddenly occurred to us that this month our Maintenance in China newsletter has reached his 5 years birthday! Not just myself but all of us at Siveco are very proud of the achievements of this half decade, with 53 issues and 300+ articles, covering maintenance knowledge, reference stories, CMMS users tips and the most popular section according to our web statistics: various Siveco “gossips” – customer visits, Siveco parties, funny photos etc. It is not always easy to meet the requirements of our different readers, from top managers to maintenance engineers, but also some IT engineer, in various industries… but we are trying our best! I am not prone to exaggeration but I am quite confident to say that this newsletter is the ONLY of its kind to be published regularly every month for so long. And we won’t stop.
Back to 2010, I can still recall that time sitting at the office with my boss Bruno, who had the crazy idea to launch this newsletter, working overtime to release the very first issue. With bilingual articles and news, more than ten articles and a bunch of html code that I had no idea about. At that time, we only had 58 readers and I was wondering how to find the content for the following issues. Bruno had no doubt whatsoever that we would have content to publish: in fact, his idea was that we were creating content from working with clients projects on a daily basis and that our challenge was to get that content out to readers… Hence the newsletter!
When we decided to print some of the issues for distribution at industrial events and to selected readers, another nightmare started for me: communication with designers, endless corrections, cover, fonts etc… But we conquered it! Month after month, our readership grew, slowly but with good quality, our readers are all qualified professionals. We now have over 400 subscribers and a much larger readership through word-of-mouth, website, social media, as well as links or reprints from various third-party industrial websites. Again this week we received an email from the managing director of a large company, who enquired about our services and explained he was a regular reader – although not in our database.
Let me take a few minutes to recall some of our newsletter key milestones or special issues:

2015 March 5 years anniversary, with over 400 subscribers
With the blog online, now separate from our main website, the newsletter has entered a new era. In 2015, we redesigned the email layout and format. On the content side, we are going to launch different special issues covering advanced topics such as Maintenance 4.0 (what is it? Let‘s see!), World Class Manufacturing, how to apply international maintenance standards into daily practices and so on. Don’t hesitate to send me your opinions and suggestions!
This month’s newsletter features, as Reliability article, our General Manager’s take on a hot topic the market is buzzing about, Industry 4.0. The Customer story recaps multisite process industry projects launched in 2014, a year during which our company’s focus on multisite companies headquartered in China has become more obvious than ever. Tips & Tricks provide a feature overview of Coswin 8i, the latest version of our CMMS Coswin.
Did you know that our company has successfully passed the ISO 9001:2008 certification last month? More (much more) on this later, as we are now the only CMMS supplier and the only maintenance engineering firm to be ISO 9001 certified in China and probably even in Asia. What does it mean for our clients? We will cover this topic in an upcoming newsletter!
Many thanks for reading us and witnessing Siveco’s growth for all these years! I hope you will enjoy this latest issue!
Best wishes,
