With speakers from Baosteel Gases, Yingde Gases, Shanghai Essilor Optical, Startup Factory Kunshan, Saint-Gobain Pipelines, Yangzhou Taiyo Nippon Sanso Semiconductor Gases and GSN Property Management. Siveco managers and specialists were also available throughout the day for Q&A and solutions demo at the booths, covering the entire range of Siveco solutions, Coswin 8i, bluebee®, IoT, BIM integration, Smart Glasses and WeChat apps. During the event, the new future-proof Smart O&M platform bluebee® X was officially released.
Siveco’s Business Development Director Fiona Yan delivered the opening address and thanked to all participants, our partner Zebra and our host the Smart Factory Kunshan. This was followed by a speech by Vice President Paul Wang on the topic of “The Smart Technician in the Smart Plant”. He made the point that year 2020, replete with challenges, is also a good time to implement Smart O&M to turn crises into opportunities. Besides, Paul presented a few case studies on behalf of a few manufacturing, water and new energy clients who could not attend the event.
The opening speech was followed by customers’ presentations:
Chen Yi, Reliability Manager of Baosteel Gases and Yingde Gases gave insights on how Siveco’s inspection system was used to improve root cause analysis (RCA). He pointed out that all Baosteel Gases factories have implemented the bluebee® mobile solution to ensure factories’ safety and reliability. He also explained the ongoing large-scale deployment in Yingde Gases, as the result of the merger between the two companies.
Chen Xiaoke, Maintenance Manager of Shanghai Essilor Optical Company’s Prescription Export Lab (known as CHLOE) shared his experience of continuous improvement of equipment maintenance in ESSILOR. He highlighted the convenience brought by bluebee®, with scanning of machines QR codes to report incidents, conduct inspection and maintenance work.
Next, Siveco China R&D Director Wang Tao unveiled the bluebee® X platform and highlighted its design principles, technology, and benefits. The new generation bluebee® X incorporates the unparalleled experience acquired by Siveco in the last decade, serving over 1,000 client sites in the increasingly complex and regulated Chinese market, and the latest available technologies, into an IoT-native, mobile-driven, future-proof platform. The solution, designed to help companies large and small to implement the principles of the ISO 55000 Asset Management standard, covers the same Smart O&M, Industrial Risk Management & Asset Management functional scope as its predecessor.
Wang Tao kept his presentation voluntarily low-key, instead inviting the audience to experience bluebee® X themselves at the many demo booths around the conference room: bluebee® X on large touchscreens, a showcase of the bluebee® for smart glass plugin for inspections and remote support, and IoT integration with Schaeffler’s SmartCheck were available, exemplifying the great flexibility of the bluebee® X solution in a fast-changing Smart or Industry 4.0 ecosystem.
The audience took a lunch break at the Smart Factory Kunshan’s canteen, enjoying an upgraded buffet lunch with a mix of German and Chinese food. Many discussions were held during lunch among clients and with Siveco team members.
After lunch, Frank Gaenzle, Managing Partner of the Smart Factory Kunshan shared his views on how to apply “Maintenance 4.0” technology in industrial SMEs. This short presentation was immediately followed by a tour of the plant, during which attendees were encouraged to report problems using bluebee® for WeChat, simply by scanning QR codes on machines or facilities using WeChat. During the visit, Frank explained the company’s business and presented various 4.0 applications. Upon returning to the conference room, the Smart Factory’s Facility Manager Richard Xu logged into the plant’s bluebee® cloud X to review the problems reported during the tour.
Huang Zhihui, representative of Saint-Gobain Pipelines, Maanshan plant, shared the experience of the company to achieve World Class Manufacturing, more particularly for maintenance in close to 15 years of cooperation with Siveco. He also showed the application of Coswin and bluebee® in terms of innovative management and the benefits of the project.
Partner Zebra Technologies, represented by ISV Specialist Yan Liang, talked about how to use their technologies to convert physical materials into digital assets which could be tracked in real time in order to achieve real-time visualization of goods, assets, processes and locations.
Zhang Hong, Operation Director of Yangzhou Taiyo Nippon Sanso Semiconductor Gases (YTNS), shared their experience on risk management in the new-built plant. As most equipment was custom-built for the plant, failures and downtime were common occurrences during the start-up phase. Mr Zhang described the one-year ramp-up phase during which, thanks to data collected in the system, preventive maintenance plans were defined and put in place.
After a tea break, with demos and Q&A at the various demo stations, Siveco’s Business Development Director Fiona Yan briefly introduced BIM for Asset Management and talked about the firm’s Belt & Road business. Siveco’s ability to implement overseas projects from China has proven valuable for many regional manufacturers (Essilor in particular, whose speaker mentioned Siveco’s projects in the Thailand and Laos plants) and Chinese EPCs and investors (Fiona listed recent projects in Southeast Asia, Africa and South America).
Joachim Corstiaans, COO of GSN Property Services and Ding Xiaoqing, GSN’s Facility Manager for Bosch Changzhou, shared their experience on promoting smart facilities management. They took Changzhou Bosch Automobile project as an example and focused on how to standardize service quality, achieve transparent management, improve efficiency and reduce internal costs at the same time.
Billy Cai, Siveco’s Project Delivery Director, demonstrated the integration of IoT and the maintenance system focusing on the development of IoT, the challenges and the way to solve the problems. A demo system of bluebee® X integrated with Schaeffler’s SmartCheck was briefly shown and available in the demo area.
The session was concluded by Siveco China’s Managing Director Bruno Lhopiteau, with a short speech on “A Revolution is the Return from the Fictitious to the Real”. He expressed his sincere thanks to all customers on behalf of Siveco members for their trust and support, more particularly to the speakers for sharing so much insights and to our host the Smart Factory Kunshan.
Ample time for networking and Q&A was provided throughout the event, with lunch, coffee break and a photo session.
