All is calm, all is bright
This is the time of the year to reflect on what we have done and to prepare for next year. It has been quite a year! We wanted to release this last issue before Christmas, but business kept me busy until now…
The last quarter was particularly exciting, with a visible shift in the attitude of facilities managers, going away from simply managing direct expenses, towards managing risk. What I have heard during seminars and clients meetings in the past few months also seem to confirm my earlier analysis: that the maturation of the market will not, contrary to popular belief, be driven by multinationals and the private sector, but instead by large-scale, well-funded, long-term driven state-owned project. At the same time, the increasing complexity of technologies employed and the sheer size of infrastructures is adding pressure specifically on technical risk management: both managing the risks due to technology, and preventing or mitigating other risks through the use of technology. Our mobile inspection initiative, which we launched in 2008 at the top of the financial crisis, is now showing all its value!
All is all, business was excellent this year and we experienced growth in all the right places: customers started to use our mobile solutions, new R&D projects were launched (watch out for announcements around Chinese New Year), we got to experience the Expo from within, our team has grown and acquired new skills, our influence in the market has become more obvious, and we added several big-name accounts to an impressive list of references. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers especially those who trusted us in 2010, whose company logos we proudly display below:
In this last 2010 issue of our newsletter, you will find all the usual sections. The Reliability article expands on the topic of risk management we introduced last month. This month’s customer story features our excellent customer Sichuan Lutianhua and their use of mobile inspections – this story has been selected for the 2010 Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions Industrial Applications Grand Prix (we will know after Chinese New Year if we win)! The Partner article explains how we integrate Geographical Information Systems (GIS) into our own systems with the help of specialist firm MobiGIS. Tips & Tricks covers the Stock Management module of our CMMS COSWIN. The usual Latest News section wraps up the issue.
Now it is time for me to end the last foreword of the year… Thanks for your patience reading my monthly ramblings: I am passionate about our business, our people and our potential, in a market ever more reliant on complex infrastructures! You can expect great things from us in 2011! We certainly do!
On behalf of the entire Siveco China team, I wish you and your loved ones to enjoy more time together in a New Year filled with happiness!
