From then on he was free from all restraint and he enjoyed the delights of immortality, drifting around as he pleased.<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;Journey to the West<\/em><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Everyone seems to be talking about \u201ccloud computing\u201d this year. We at Siveco haven\u2019t talked much about it: instead, we have been doing it! A typical engineer\u2019s company, we are sometimes too focused on doing a good job rather than marketing\u2026 One of my new year\u2019s resolutions was to try to change that!<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Imagine a web portal, something like iGoogle or Yahoo! where a multi-service FM company could manage its entire business online. Maintenance data may come from our CMMS &#8221;Coswin&#8221;, alarms from the BMS, and other data be aggregated from other systems: surveillance cameras, financial indicators, help desk notifications etc. Mobile users can connect on PDAs (convenient for technicians on patrols) or Tablet PCs (more suitable for viewing reports or drawings).<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the help of some of our key <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sivecochina.com\/en\/news\/siveco-and-mobigis-unveil-their-geographical-maintenance-portal-during-the-2009-high-service-level-transportation-forum-held-at-tongji-university-in-shanghai-on-november-10-11\/\" target=\"_blank\">partners<\/a>, we have since the end of 2009 been involved in the development of this platform. Already used by some of our customers, the solution can work on a single small site on a rental basis (SaaS or \u201csoftware as a service\u201d as in <a href=\"https:\/\/newsletter.bluebeecloud.com\/en\/customer-story\/customer-story-leading-automotive-supplier-demonstrates-roi-in-less-than-a-year-with-siveco-saas-solution\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brose Wuhan<\/a>) but can also be deployed nationwide across hundreds of facilities (<a href=\"https:\/\/newsletter.bluebeecloud.com\/en\/customer-story\/customer-story-unified-fm-system-key-to-continuing-service-level-improvement-for-leading-property-group\/\" target=\"_blank\">CCPG<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The concept of cloud, in my view, encompasses several key elements:<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;The solution can either be leased (SaaS) or purchased<br \/>\n&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;The system itself is hosted \u201csomewhere\u201d either in a third-party data center or in-house<br \/>\n&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;It is highly scalable (from one site to hundreds and more)<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Particularly attractive for small sites unwilling to invest in a CMMS and for very large size property owners (whose needs are mostly in terms of risk management, contract management rather than maintenance execution), this approach provides an excellent tool to help our customers improve their maintenance, FM or reduce overall assets risk.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although traditional single-site project based on our CMMS Coswin remain a major axis of development in the coming years (we actually see a growing demand in both industrial and infrastructure segments), I am convinced that the cloud is the way to go, as proven by our early successes. You will hear more about this in the coming months as we learn to master the cloud and unveil some of the new projects.
